3 Powerful Immune-Boosting Recipes

As soon as I start to feel a bit run-down, these immune-boosting recipes are my go-tos for a natural boost and keep me thriving through cold and flu season. Packed with powerful ingredients each recipe is designed to support the immune system, fight off bugs, and help you feel your best.

 

1. Nova’s Garlic Soup

This packs a punch… and tastes so damn good! Loaded with immune-boosting garlic (52 cloves), this warming soup works wonders for knocking out bugs. Garlic is known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties, helping to fight off infections while supporting overall immune health.

Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 26 garlic cloves (unpeeled)

  • 26 garlic cloves, peeled 

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons (¼ stick) vegan butter

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne powder 

  • ½ cup fresh ginger

  • 2 ¼ cups sliced onions 

  • 1 ½ teaspoons, chopped fresh thyme 

  • ½ cup coconut milk

    3 ½ cups organic vegetable broth

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 180C/ 350F

  • Place 26 garlic cloves in small glass baking dish

  • Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and toss to coat

  • Bake in oven for 20 mins until soft 

  • Cool. Squeeze garlic between fingertips to release cloves

  • Transfer cloves to small bowl

  • Melt butter in heavy, large saucepan over medium-high heat

  • Add onions, thyme, ginger and cayenne powder and cook until onions are translucent, about 6 minutes

  • Add roasted garlic and 26 raw garlic cloves and cook 3 minutes

  • Add vegetable broth; cover and simmer until garlic is very tender, about 20 minutes

  • Working in batches, puree soup in blender until smooth

  • Return soup to saucepan; add coconut milk and bring to simmer

  • Season with sea salt and pepper to flavor

 

2. Voodoo Juice -


AKA Fiery Ginger tea

This potent ginger tea is perfect for soothing sore throats and relieving congestion. Ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties can ease respiratory discomfort and support your immune system in fighting off colds and flu.

Ingredients:

  • Large chunk of ginger (the more the better)

  • Honey (optional)

  • Lemon (optional) 

Tip: Make a big batch and sip throughout the day. 

Method:

  • Heat a pan of boiling water (covering ¾ of the pan) until boiling

  • Grate ginger in a cheese grater - use the larger grating side

  • Add all the ginger to the pan

  • Bring to simmer and cover with lid

  • Simmer for 30 mins

  • Sieve the liquid and add to a glass jar

  • Fill you cup and allow the rest to cool

  • Add lemon & honey to taste

 

3. Natural Flu Shot

When you need a powerful immunity boost, this all-natural flu shot does the trick. Packed with garlic and ginger to fight off infections, lemon juice for a vitamin C punch, and cayenne pepper to kickstart circulation, this blend tackles colds and flu from every angle. Pineapple juice adds a touch of sweetness and bromelain to reduce inflammation, while honey soothes sore throats. Simply blend, store in glass jars, and drink 1 cup 4 times a day until you’re back to full strength!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bulb garlic

  • Chunk of ginger (the more the better)

  • Juice of 6 lemons

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • ¼ tablespoon cayenne pepper

  • 3 cups of pineapple juice

Method:

  • Blend all ingredients

  • Store them into glass jars

  • Drink 1 cup 4 times a day until cured
